Maritime Training

Training Courses

In spite of the importance of the roles of marine or technical superintendent, it is almost standard practice within the industry that superintendents’ learn on the job. A small number of short training courses are available, addressing specific areas of superintendent’s role, however their use is not extensive and most seem to be offered by organisations who are not themselves involved in vessel operations, such as class societies.

At MarineLink our consultants all have extensive experience in vessel operations, so we are not only aware of the range of skills superintendents require, but also why such training courses need to be flexible, or modular so superintendents can fit the training around the job. We’ve developed a range of short courses (between 1/2 and 2-days in length) targeted at staff involved in the marine industry, vessel operations, insurance, legal, etc. Some courses are task-specific such as our Dry-Dock Management course, aimed predominantly at superintendents, but others are more of a general overview of ships and the industry.

Course delivery is flexible, to best suit client needs – running a course at a client’s office exclusively for their staff, or as a stand-alone training course delivered to staff from different owners or managers.

Another area we also specialise in is mentoring of new or inexperienced superintendents when managing dry-docks at the yard of providing guidance when preparing the specification.
